Minervini built a set in Montana and then allowed the actors to live there for two months
Chronology
In the winter of 1862, during the American Civil War, the US Army sent a volunteer company to patrol the unknown territories of the West. The dialogue and thoughts expressed are ones the actors came up with while living in the middle of nowhere, imagining they were soldiers in the Civil War.
“Roberto Minervini’s New Movie” Who???
Not that anyone has ever heard of him or seen his other boring movies. Even though the Civil War was fought between the North and the South, for some very stupid reasons, some Northern soldiers were sent to the West to “explore unknown territories” because apparently the North had soldiers in reserve to do something completely unnecessary to the war effort.
For example: “Have you ever shot anyone?” “Yes, a rabbit” Really deep and philosophical
Throughout the boring movie, these soldiers just wander around, set up camp, and talk a lot of boring shit. Oh, good.
Nothing else happens
These “soldiers” never act like real Civil War soldiers, and at no point do they talk like them. For comparison, I recommend the great documentary by Ken Burns.
Even Django vs
Or just watch a 70’s spaghetti western. Space Zombies is more realistic (and a lot more fun) than this crap.
