Chronology
Charles, a retiree, gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad for a private investigator and becomes an informant in an undercover investigation at a nursing home. Michael Schur was inspired to create “A Man On the Inside” after watching the Chilean documentary “The Mole Agent.” He says, “The documentary “The Mole Agent” is powerful because it makes people feel something remarkably similar across all ages, ethnicities, and genders, and I would describe that feeling in a very reductive way as, ‘I need to call my mom.’” In our show, we try to do something similar with the tone: Basically, does our show contribute to that feeling of wanting to call our moms?
These actors only get better with age and they are wonderfully cast in this sweet comedy series!
I’m 67 years old and it was wonderful to see so many actors from our generation and their great comedic chops. The script gets a little lost in trying to solve the mystery and delves deeper into the characters’ stories.
It’s really no mystery at all
That’s okay because you have a pretty good idea of who the culprit is by the halfway point. You don’t care that it’s not really a mystery because you’re just having fun watching these golden oldies work and strut their stuff.

Just a tribute to the courage it takes to be an active senior citizen and feel seen in our youth-oriented society. What a sweet tribute to those who support and help us navigate the minefields of aging this series was.
